Can someone recommend a that's vibrant yet dry-writing (ala absorbant-paper-friendly)? Preferably in the blue-range, not too expensive, and lacking things like sheening and shimmering.

ethical data handling...

Here we go again.

This is very simple...

You own your own data... That also means you must take care with what you leak.

But you should have the right to be archived, or forgotten... Your choice.

Violation of that is a problem.

@lunduke Lately we've had plenty of complaints of bloated RAM usage in things like web browsers and office suites. I've complained about this too as I am stuck on an old computer with very little RAM, but I've always been of the opinion that one shouldn't complain if one isn't willing to do something about it. Is it time to stop complaining and actually do something? Is it time for a call to action?

As I was typing my last post, I came across an article that made me cringe:

nintendotoday.com/nintendo-swi

and my share a common history and philosophy and have *similar* designs if you ignore their kernels, but they do not share a common origin and are definitely *not* the same thing.

Perhaps the writers of the article just want the two communities to hug and be friends? 😉

I have my and I don't have much use for it beyond my one non-FOSS weakness (my profile pick should be the clue 😉). It may be time to , but I'm not a fan of Arch or Ubuntu and I haven't used any desktops outside of KDE3 & TDE. Can someone switch out some advice on what to go with?

I bought a bunch of 3.5inch floppies at some thrift shops. Some of their labels won't completely come off. Soaking and scrubbing is obviously a no-go. Any advice for how to deal with this?

The big takeaway from this though is that Facebook stored user passwords in plain text at least for some people.

Contrary to what that spokeperson claims in the article, it’s literally impossible for a password to appear in a permalink in plain text if it is only stored hashed and salted on the server side.

Here's a novel idea: a that's just a ! Seriously, we've been making for over 100 years, and I still can't find something plain and simple! I guess I'm sticking to my old ...

I tried booting the live DVD on two Pentium 4s (these are the only machines I have), and they both give a white screen complaining that they can't find a boot partition. I downloaded the ISO via torrent, verified the checksum, and verified a successful burn to DVD-RW. Any ideas?

Mastodon doesn't punish you for living your life.

It doesn't actively take metrics of your interactions to gauge your social or cultural capital.

Never will it demand that you post this much to be or stay relevant to the community, disappearing into the void if you don't meet The Quota.

So please, for the love of toot, take breaks whenever you feel you need to! We'll be here when you get back! :patcat:

I finally found the monitor that was meant to go with my old from 1984. Amazon says it's been listed for nearly 3 years. I wonder why...?

Well, I guess it's back to searching for a VGA card...

@bryanlunduke@mastodon.social Have you considered looking at Liberapay as a F\OSS alternative to Patreon?
